How We Work - Our Approach

The Anchor Space provides structured, reflective support that helps people in supportive roles make sense of the emotional load of their work.

We’re not a counselling service or an Employee Assistance Programme, our work sits in the space before crisis, where reflection can make the biggest difference.

Using our ANCHOR Reflection Model, we create calm, practical spaces where staff can pause, process what they carry, and reset, supporting both wellbeing and professional resilience.

Who We Work With

We currently work with Students’ Union staff in frontline, student-facing roles. These are the people who hold much of the emotional weight of student life while keeping services running.

We understand the pressure to always “be there” for others, and how rarely there’s time to stop and process what that takes. The Anchor Space offers a structured way to do exactly that.

How It Can Work in Practice

Sara is having a difficult day with a backlog of tasks, three back-to-back student appointments, and each involving complex issues.

She takes a moment to pause, writes down her thoughts, and presses send, and continues with her day. Within 24 hours, she receives an Anchor support email offering gentle reflection prompts and practical tools to help her move forward.

A few days later, Sara chooses to discuss things further in a 1:1 reflective session. Together, she and the practitioner explore what’s been weighing on her and identify small, realistic steps Sara can take to regain balance.

A few weeks on, the whole team attend an Anchor Workshop and they use the space to recognise each other’s pinch points, strengthen understanding, and reconnect with their shared purpose.

Trial Spaces – Try The Anchor Space in Action

We are currently offering limited Trial and Early Adopter spaces for Students’ Unions who want to experience structured reflection before committing long-term.

The trials are open to individual teams or a mix of teams, up to a maximum of 10 staff members.

Each trial includes:

  • Two 1:1 reflective sessions per participant

  • One team reflection workshop

  • Reflective email anchors throughout

  • An end-of-cycle insight summary

Trials run over 16 weeks and are designed to demonstrate how structured reflection can strengthen staff wellbeing, confidence, and retention.
